About Captain Bill Dunk
Hello I'm Capt'n Bill. I have been fishing and boating in all my life. This sport has taken me to great places and introduced me to lot of fantastic people. Back in high school I started fishing for salmon and steelhead in Lake Huron, both from a boat and ashore, which I then expanded me into chasing them on the fly in the rivers. From there I split my time on the Big water and Fly fishing. I worked for Orvis teaching fly tying and casting to help pay my way thru college to become and Automotive Engineer. I never lost the passion for chasing fish and being on the water, from Alaska to the Florida Keys and everywhere in between, but the Great Lakes will always be my true home. I bought my 1st big water boat at age 20 and spend all my time either fishing it, or working on it to make it better. Eventually I began doing salmon tournaments and did very well. By age 30 I had fished hundreds of them all over the Great Lakes. I became a Licensed Captain in my 30's.
Even though I had a full time engineering job, I still found time to learn as much as I could about boats and boating. Marine Electronics was something I was always dabbling in, and it turned into a career. With the support of many friends and others in the marine industry, I took the jump and started GLBS. With over 25 yrs experience in the Marine world, It was time to share that knowledge and help others.
